Feel Better With Computer Presentations

Your palms are sweaty, your heart is racing, and you are positive you're not going to live through the experience. You have just been informed you are expected to give a presentation for your colleagues. Maybe your reaction isn't as bad as all of that, but many people do experience extreme stress when it comes to public speaking. Relax, take a deep breath, and consider using computer presentations to take some of the heat off you and enable your audience to look at something besides the rivers of sweat running down your face.

The truth is, besides giving you a welcome respite from everyone's undivided attention, computer presentations are great visual aids and help you get your information across in a way that is easily presented and understood. The key element in preparing your PowerPoint or other computer program presentation is to be prepared and create a business like, professional display. There are some presentation tricks and hints that can help make your job easier and leave you feeling cool as a cucumber come presentation day.

Let's talk about the presentation background color. You may not think it's important, but your audience will when you choose a light color background and they can't see the vital information you are trying to impart. Most public speaking experts recommend using a dark color, like deep purple or black, for your background color. When teamed with white or yellow print, it makes it easy to see for your audience and reduces the effect of the white background glare. You want your audience to see your information clearly and without difficulty.

Now that you have your background and print colors picked out, it's time to decide what font style you wish to use for your computer presentation. Highly recommended fonts include Arial, Verdana, and Tahoma. The new roman font tends to run together when viewed from a distance and can be hard to read. Obviously that would defeat your purpose because everyone would once again be looking at you to try to hear the information. Font size is also important for presentations. Setting the default size to 40 or larger helps ensure your audience can see clearly.

You might think you are set now, but there is one more aspect to computer presentations you should think about. Where are you planning to place the projector screen or monitor? As much as you may be tempted, the center of the room probably isn't your best bet. Not only will you have to concentrate on what you are saying and staying current with the information on your screen, you will also have to keep moving around so your entire audience can see. The far better option is to place it in one of the front corners of the room.

In addition to making you feel more comfortable in front of a crowd, computer presentations help you present your information in an easy to see and understand manner.
